$897,740: Pedestrian Injured By Negligent Taxicab Company Wins Lawsuit

DISCLAIMER: The results are specific to the facts and legal circumstances of each of the clients' cases and should not be used to form an expectation that the same results could be obtained for other clients in similar matters without reference to the specific factual and legal circumstances of each client's case.

In May 2015, Shannon Law Group, P.C. tried an important public transportation case in Chicago. Three and a half years before this trial, an Express Cab struck our client Marge Baumrucker in a marked crosswalk. We tried the case before a jury in the Daley Center. The cab company had no record of any prior employment or commercial driving experience. Our investigation revealed that there was no way the driver should have been driving the cab. The jury agreed. The jury determined that Express Cab willfully and wantonly entrusted the keys to the Express Cab to the driver. Verdict: $897,740.81. See the details of the case and the verdict in this press release. Congratulations to our associate Patrick Cummings on assisting on his first jury trial.  Update:  In April 2016, a Cook County judge denied Defendants’ post-trial motions for a new trial.
